Mare Nostrum expands European coverage
Mare Nostrum has signed a deal with the German agency SHS to take on its client base in Germany, Austria and Switzerland with effect from 1st July 2012.
From July Mare Nostrum will provide sales and marketing services for SAGE Publications, Combined Academic Publishers, Woodhead Publishing, Edinburgh University Press, RSC Publishing, Boydell & Brewer, Acumen, Equinox and the Perseus Books Group throughout these markets. As part of the deal Mare Nostrum has also retained the services of SHS’s founder, Bernd Feldmann, for a period of 6 years.
SHS was established in 1996 to supply sales representation to English-language publishing houses throughout the German-speaking market. Since its inception SHS has grown into a complete sales and marketing agency, with a substantial database, able to offer integrated consultancy services to its clients. As well as taking on SHS’s client base, Mare Nostrum has also bought their extensive contact management database.
David Pickering of Mare Nostrum: “We have been looking to expand into the Germanic territories for some time and the synergy between our client bases made SHS a perfect fit. I look forward to working closely with Bernd to ensure a smooth transition for all our clients.”
Tony Histed, International Sales Director at Sage, commented: “Central Europe is an increasingly important territory for a publisher like SAGE and being able to develop and expand our relationship with Mare Nostrum enables us to continue the good work that SHS has achieved.”
